I haven’t written a thing regards any footy for nearly 3 months. In reality, there have been a few games worth writing about, and few not. Fortunes haven’t been to good for the lads, Aaron Allinson having to retire with recurring ankle problems and Alex Rhodes having his leg broken by some tit last Wednesday. Craig Palmer has also been out with something or other.
I have even decided not to video the games for the moment at the least, one because I’d rather watch the game and two, it’s too bloody cold to hold a camera for very long.
I’d got to the game a tad early this week, girls had gone out shopping and as Skysports has been knocked on the head, (there was utter shite on the telly) I thought I’d watch the pitch dry out during warm up.
The sun was shining, but you knew it wasn’t going to be for long, as it would be dark and freezing by 4.
The game got off to a good start by both teams, Thackley were no mugs, and well organised. We did have many chances, eventually Chib netting in the 44th minute. The sun had disappeared at around 3.30, and the floodlights were switched on, but only half of them came on. Turns out, there was a problem with the leccy supply, the suppl to the telly in the clubhouse and to Gails cookhouse. Just after half time the whole place went dark, and this remained the way until 4.15, lights returned, a Sparky about £150 better off, but the lads had to come out and warm up again due to the cold and time delay.
Second half, we had one or two good chances, but the delay seemed to put us off our stride. The visitors dogged determination saw them get a good equaliser in the 71st minute, and could have snatched it near the end.
yet again no luck on the raffle.
Attendance 123
Games seen – dunno, lost count
Man of the Match : hard to choose, Ash Dexter played well, as did the two full backs and Nathan Hotte. Chib had a bit of a “quiet” day by his remarkable standards. I also thought Tom Fleming was a little quiet.
Ref watch : The amazing Mr Rowntree, there are not enough superlatives for his refereeing style.
